Christian’s Research

After Christian joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1878, he became interested in providing saving ordinances to his progenitors.  As early as July 1887, he completed temple work for his father and a few other relatives in the Logan Temple.  When he served a mission to Norway from 1898-1900, he gathered as much information about his family as he could.  After he returned home and up to the time he passed away in 1923, he organized the information he had gathered and set about completing all the temple work he could.

Much of Christian’s research has survived to this day and has been scanned and uploaded to the Busath-Cheever Archive on Permanent.org with identification codes CBB013 through CBB030.

Christian’s work has been carefully reviewed and analyzed in Chapter 6—Christian’s Family History and Temple Work of “Christian Bersvendsen Busath and Agnes Abigail Cheever Family History,” (Busath-Cheever History) which is available for review or download from the Busath-Cheever Archive at https://www.permanent.org/p/archive/06zh-0000/record/03tm-0059.

Chapter 6—Christian’s Family History and Temple Work includes schedules, organized along family lines, for every name appearing in Christian’s records, citations to the records in which the names are found, the current identification number for the individual’s record on FamilySearch Family Tree, and the dates when temple ordinances were performed at Christian’s request.  Chapter 6 also contains an analysis of Christian’s research considering more current information, confirming most of his work, and explaining how he occasionally got off track.

It is useful to review the research done as a guide to future research.  To that end, Chapter 7—Extending Christian’s Research of the Busath-Cheever History provides a helpful summary of Busath family research conducted by others after Christian’s death.
